Locations and Settings
Location is more than a city label: it affects astronomy, regional calendar behavior, candle lighting, and the preferred zmanim method.
Saved locations
Previously saved places appear in their own scrolling list in Location Settings. After loading one, you can revise its fields or assign a different zmanim method before saving. To remove a place from the list, click the trash icon at the end of its row, or right-click it and choose Delete. If it is the location in use, the zmanim keep using it until you choose another.
Israel and diaspora
Kaluach normally derives Israel-or-diaspora behavior from the selected location. If map data classifies a place incorrectly, the Country control can override that classification for the saved location without changing its time zone.
Time zone and daylight saving
A searched location or Use My Location stores a named time zone, allowing the correct daylight-saving rule to be applied for each date. Manually entered coordinates trigger the same lookup after you press Return or Tab.
Leave Daylight Saving on Automatic for normal use. If a rare location remains consistently one hour wrong, you can force daylight saving on or off for that saved location.
General preferences
Settings include English or Hebrew display, 12- or 24-hour time, visible holiday groups, the preferred opening month display, and the historical Julian/Gregorian transition used for displayed civil dates. They also hold Zmanim Alarms and the Event reminder time — see Alarms and reminders.
