Alarms and Reminders

iKaluach can alert you before chosen zmanim and remind you of your events.

Zmanim alarms

In Settings, tap Zmanim Alarms. Turn on the zmanim you want and set how many minutes before each one the alarm sounds, or At the time. The first time, iOS asks for permission to send notifications. Alarms follow the current location and zmanim method.

Event reminders

Turn on Remind me in an event. You are reminded on the day before each occurrence, at the Event reminder time set in Settings. For a Sephardi azkara there is a second reminder on the Friday before the Shabbat that precedes it — the Shabbat of the week before if the azkara itself falls on Shabbat. An event that also recurs on a civil date is reminded before that date too.

Shabbat and Yom Tov

iKaluach sends nothing on Shabbat or Yom Tov. Zmanim seen only on those days are not offered as alarms, and on Erev Shabbat and Erev Yom Tov nothing sounds from candle lighting on. A reminder that would fall on Shabbat or Yom Tov comes a day earlier, and on the day before it comes at least half an hour before candle lighting — so a Sunday azkara gets a single reminder on Friday.

Keeping alarms coming

iOS lets an app schedule only a limited number of notifications ahead, and iKaluach refreshes them each time you open it. Alarms are scheduled up to two weeks ahead; open iKaluach at least every week or so to keep them coming.
