Zmanim According to Chabad

This page explains the bundled Chabad profile in iKaluach, based on Chabad.org’s published calculation method.

The rav and his community

Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, known as the Alter Rebbe and Baal HaTanya, founded Chabad Chassidism. His works include the Tanya and Shulchan Aruch HaRav, and his halachic teachings remain central to Chabad religious life.

The method’s character

Proportional hours run between internal endpoints called Hanetz Amiti and Shkiah Amitis. These differ from the displayed sunrise and sunset used for practical daytime observance. Dawn and nightfall follow solar angles, so their distance from sunrise or sunset changes with location and season.

Selecting the profile

Choose Chabad as the Zmanim Shita for a location to use the complete profile. The app then displays the Chabad-specific preferred Mincha threshold and Chatzot Halaylah in addition to the applicable daily zmanim.

A note about dawn

Some Israeli Chabad tables also include a disputed earlier dawn opinion described as 120 minutes before sunrise on reference days. The same calendar identifies the later 72-minute opinion as present practice. The earlier opinion is included here only as supplementary background, not as a second standard profile.
